Notice following advise from England Golf and Public health England

Dear Members,
R.E HARTLEPOOL GOLF CLUB RESPONSE TO COVID-19
At Hartlepool Golf Club, the health, wellbeing and safety of our members, guests and employees is of paramount importance.
We understand that you are likely concerned about COVID-19 and its spread within the UK.
We want to reassure you that we are monitoring the developing situation extremely closely and following all advice issued by the Chief Medical Officer and Public Health England.
We are also following the guidelines issued by England Golf, the governing body for our sport.
To date, there have been no actual or suspected cases of the coronavirus (Covid-19) on the Hartlepool Golf facilities and premises.
If this situation changes, we’ll act quickly to protect our members, guests and employees.
Guidelines for Golf Club Members
Golf is a great sport for people to get out, socialise and spend time outdoors in the fresh air – where the risk of contracting COVID-19 is very low.
We ask that our club members adhere to the following government advice at all times:
• Please do not come to the golf club if you have had a sudden & continuous new cough, shortness of breath or a fever (Temperature above 37.8C)

• If you do have the above symptoms, follow government advice and self-isolate for 7 days

• Keep your hands clean, wash regularly and thoroughly, for at least 20 seconds with soap and water or hand sanitiser

• Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch all coughs and sneezes and then bin the tissue - then wash your hands with soap and water, or use a sanitiser which is provided in the clubhouse bar, reception.

• If you think you may have encountered the virus, please follow the government advice, and self-isolate in the first instance
Details on how best to cope with the virus can also be found via the World Health Organisation website which will provide rolling updates and the best ways to mitigate against the spread of the infection.

NHS England also provide updated and expert advice via their website.

Recommended advice for golfers
The most likely point of transmission of the virus is your hands, either by contacting surfaces or shaking hands with other people and then touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
With this in mind, please follow these recommendations:
1. Bump elbows or knuckles instead of shaking hands or hugging at the end of a round
2. Leave the flagstick in at all times
3. Avoid gripping another golfers clubs
4. Wipe down the handles of hire or rental trolleys before use
5. Wear a glove to pick up a basket on the driving range
6. Wash your hands before and after golf for at least 30 seconds with warm water and soap

Club Hygiene
As a team, we are following Public Health England guidelines to ensure that the most stringent cleaning practices are implemented throughout Hartlepool Golf Club, including:
• Increased the frequency of cleaning public areas (including door handles, hand rails, public bathrooms, reception desk)
•Continued use of disinfectant in cleaning
•Increased use of antibacterial hand sanitisers in public areas and for housekeeping and operations staff

We appreciate that this is a worrying time, however, we want you to feel confident and comfortable in coming to Hartlepool Golf Club to enjoy your golf and spend time with friends.
Please follow the advice above and follow our social media accounts for daily news and updates should the situation change.
Yours sincerely
Jim Allison
